  • Falcons Overpower Bungoma To Set Up Semi against Mombasa RFC

    By Ken Andrew

    kenakikenyi@gmail.com

Falcons Rugby Captain John Oliele in action during a past game.

The Daystar Falcons Rugby team on Saturday 2nd  April 2022 faced their biggest match of the season thus far. They welcomed Bungoma RFC to the Athi River rugby pitch in a KRU Nationwide national quarter final match. The winner would advance to the national semi-final where they would have a chance to be promoted into the KRU Championship next season with a win.

The match was as tough as it was billed to be as there was nothing much between the two sides. A tight affair it was and the Falcons got the better of Bungoma in the first half which ended 5-0 to the Falcons. Bungoma RFC fought back in the second half and their level of physicality was clearly seen. The Falcons still managed to extend their lead after their opponents got back into the game. They held on to win 11-5 with Elvis Sande getting the try and captain John Oliele getting a dropgoal and  a penalty, adding to the score.

Vice Captain Joshua Ngomeli commended the Bungoma side’s physicality. He also said that the sides were well matched and the team had to grind hard for a win. The support from the school was evident with fans, both students and staff present to cheer the Falcons.

With that win, the Falcons will welcome Mombasa RFC in the semis on 9th April in Athi River. They managed to be in the same position last year but failed to get the promotion after losing to Shamas. This year, the squad will be confident going into the match as not many players are injured unlike last year. They have a week to put in the work and improve on their weaknesses as they enter a crucial weekend in their promotion hopes.

  • MARRY ME STRANGER

Its not my life I am trying to endanger,
Life is a journey I want to be your passenger,

Keep the roses I like the smell of ginger,
Maybe am just crazy I want to be your ninja,

And forget the dinner suit no I like it with your working apron,
It makes more sense coz the latter only gives sexy pics to upload,

And come on…I love how you lift that load,
Is that what you’d do to me coz you look so bold?

And yes we just met but what if you mean my lifetime?
I want to see us struggle together through our rough times,

Sorry I didn’t say my name- call me Safaricom, I am your better option,
The girl who its you I see so do I call you an optician,

And I didn’t choose you for lack of a better option,
Its love by first sight and that you can caption,

No don’t stare tell me when we should move in together,
And it takes too much courage for me to gather,

Maybe because you don’t look like a girlfriend you look like a mother,
So how about we conduct our masses in bed so my children get a mother?

And don’t you worry I will be with you forever in quarantine,
All seasons through celebrating each day of Valentine,

Tell me are you in for this skeptical idea?
Coz my gasses in you are ideal,

Stranger with you I want forever,
    By your side till whenever,

To wake you everyday at dawn,
Not with the alarm am talking of moans,

Promise me your world I came along with the moon,
With no guarantee I want our first kiss in honeymoon.

  • WE SHALL MEET AGAIN

    By ABDUL SHABAN

    {abdoolmtyro@gmail.com}

    You are a beautiful soul,
I verbalize my love just to sow,
I think we meet at a dream I saw,
Told you my name, you didn’t say “..So..”

    Ask you to be mine,
    After taking some wine,
You blush and gave a silent whine,
You wanted me to be your love line,

    Our amour has endeavor,
    Much pain or whatsoever,
It just wanted us to be clever,
    Perhaps be together forever,

    You be my queen,
Maybe you wanna be my pen quill,
My volatile moods you just quell,
You are forever in my side never to quit,

The night zephyr is so breezy,
To have add infinitum amour isn’t easy,
Am too romantic making you feel cheesy,
    Imagine I bought you Pepsi,

    Even though you ain’t here,
    I still feel you near,
Your scent all over none to dare,
Your angelic voice is all I hear,

Am in tears since I can’t see you mine,
I wanna see you, even if it is a crime,
You are innocent you just gave me time,
Fight just for me to prime,

    Fought with the drug dealer,
For me not to be an addict of taquila,
    You are my great pillar,
When your soul is torn I be your healer,

    Beautiful soul with passion,
Just because of me you are in prison,
No eye witness to this even one person,
Am not good but I keep up with fashion,

I really miss you my joy,
I got many things to do like chores,
But my mind is in total chaos,
For you being jailed is my cause,

I got hope we shall meet,
    Have fun and even eat,
I will protect you from the sun heat,
Am faithful,I promise I will not cheat,

We shall meet again my angel,
To me you are an angel,
    Sent to save me,
    Am sorry for the mess,

    My beautiful soul…

Photo courtesy: Portugal official Twitter handle

A brace from Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was enough to secure victory for Portugal in a 2-0 win against North Macedonia. The win secured Portugal’s ticket to the 2022 world cup in Qatar.

Although Portugal were the favorites to win the tie, many were still hopeful North Macedonia would manage to pull a miracle. This is after they managed to beat EURO 2020 champions, Italy in the semi finals of the playoffs. The defeat for The Azzurri means that they will not be featuring at the world cup in November. The tournament which usually takes place in the summer will Instead take place in November when the temperatures will be much cooler as compared to the summer.
This will be the 5th time that Cristiano Ronaldo gets a stab at playing in the world cup. He will be hoping to win the tournament this time round as it is the only competition that has alluded him. Ronaldo is currently 37 years old and thus this could be his last chance of winning the World cup. He has previously had success with the national team, as Portugal won the euros in 2016.
Prior to the match against north Macedonia when he was asked on the possibility of Portugal missing from the world cup he simply responded, “there is no World Cup without Portugal”.
This shows that he clearly meant business and he delivered by combining with his United teammate Bruno for the first goal of the tie.
In the tie played on the 29th march, Poland managed to secure their slot for the world cup by defeating Sweden 2-0. Bayern Munich talisman, Robert Lewandoski managed to get on the scoresheet by scoring a penalty for Poland. The other goal was scored by Piotr Zielinski.

Zama zimerudi tena, kwenye hali ya siasa,

    Sasa hawa waungwana, watayamwaga mapesa,

    Nami nawaasa sana, kutorudia makosa,

Ama tutakujajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

    Wengi tulowachaguwa, tukiwadhani wakweli,

    Uchumi watainuwa, ziinuke zetu hali,

    Katika kila hatuwa, hatukuipata sahali,

Sasa tusije kujuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

    Vyama walivyovijenga, visitutie tamaa,

    Heri mtu kujipanga, tukakataa hadaa,

Wametufanya wajinga, na hakuna la kufaa,

Kwayo tusitake juta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

Wengi wako kwa tamaa, na malengo ya binafsi,

Huku wanatuhadaa, kwamba eti wako nasi,

Vyeo wakisha vitwaa, ndio hao huwa basi,

Tusipige tukajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

    Tuwatizame matendo, tusiyashike maneno,

Asofaa tupa kando, angatowa donge nono,

Huyo kaja kwa mawindo, wako wengi kwa mfano,

Tukiwapa tutajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

Kura yako usiuze, jitahidi kuwa wima,

    Wakisema wasikize, huku uwe wawapima,

    Wasofaa tuwapuuze, hawafai kusimama,

Au sivyo tutajuta, kama miaka ya nyuma!

  • IN MY CITY

    By Abdul Shaban

    In my city

    The pavements are not perfect

But every corner has a bustling market

    In my city

Music is in the hearts and air

But many dreams are strapped on to the chair

    In my city

    Traffic is chaotic and crazy

    And here some go hungry

    In my city

Movie stars rub shoulders with the common man

But he is a “star” and this is eventually a “fan”

    In my city

Anything can be found on sale on the streets

But you need to be smart, no depth of cheats

    In my city

This vendor will sell his items by the end of the day

Glad to have struck a deal in his own way

    In my city

There is so much to do

But everything has a price, you pay your chew

    In my city

I feel safe wherever I go

But there are alleys where you may get a blow

    In my city

The heat and humidity is at times unbearable

But it is here that cold is some times another hurdle

    In my city

The pavements may not be perfect

But every road, lane, footpath and garden always does connect

This is NAIROBI… a city of dreams

Live and let live… the aura here screams.

Wewe si mzuri sana, punguza kuniringia

    Wazuri nimewaona, sura zao zavutia

Na mengi wewe hauna, ila nimewakimbia

Moyo umekuchagua, kwako ni kama bahati.

    Wangapi wamenitaka, watukufu wa tabia

    Warembo waloumbika, wakiniona hulia

    Nawakataa hakika, ni kwako nakimbilia

    Moyo wangu waugua, nimekupenda banati.

    Nimesema nakupenda, si vyema kuninunia

    Wenzako wananiganda, mapenzi kuyalilia

    Nawe waleta mapozi, bahati imekujia

    Uache kunizingua,usichezee bahati.

Sina nyumba wala mali,ni mbora wa tabia

Nina mapenzi ya kweli, si kwamba najisifia

    Ila najua kujali, kutunza kuhudumia

Juu yako kuchagua, sijesema ya laiti.
