  • Footballer’s Contract Terminated For Showing Support for Palestine

    The recent escalation in Israeli violence in Jerusalem and Gaza has prompted athletes from around the world to show their support for Palestine.

    One of those athletes is Anwar El Ghazi who has been released after Mainz decided to terminate his contract as he keeps supporting Palestine in social media posts.

    El Ghazi responded to the termination with an official statement.

    Stand for what’s right even if it means standing alone. The loss of my livelihood is nothing when compared to the hell being unleashed on the innocent, vulnerable in Gaza. Stop the killing

    El Ghazi was suspended but then re-included in the squad on Tuesday, as he mentioned again that he “doesn’t regret showing support for Palestine”.

    Another affected athlete has been Algerian defender Youssef Attal who has been suspended from the Nice team after publishing a social media post in relation to the conflict.

    Despite the backlash, athletes continue to show their support for Palestine. Their actions swaying and dividing opinions.

  • Woeful Manchester United and Arsenal Knocked out of Carabao Cup

    Newcastle piled the pressure on a troubled Erik ten Hag with a stunning 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

    Goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock sank the Red Devils to send the Magpies through to the Quarter finals of the Carabao cup.

    At the London Stadium, West Ham sank Arsenal 3-1 to end the Gunners Carabao cup hopes with goals from Mohammed Kudus, Jared Bowen and a Ben White own goal.

    Martin Odegaard scored the Gunners’ consolation goal in stoppage time as West Ham progressed to the next round at the expense of their former Captain Declan Rice.

    In other fixtures, Liverpool progressed at the expense of Bournemouth courtesy of goals from Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez with Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert scoring the Cherries’ only goal.

    Troubled Chelsea cruised to the Quarter finals with a reassuring performance against Championship side Blackburn Rovers with goals from Benoit Badiashile and Raheem Sterling.

    Chelsea will now take on Newcastle united as Liverpool take on West Ham.

    Other Carabao cup quarter final fixtures will see Everton take on Fulham as championship side Middlesbrough battle it out with League One side Port Vale.

  • Arsenal Tied Joint Top With North London Rivals Going Into the International Break

    Arsenal finally beat Manchester City on Sunday’s blockbuster match to end their 15 game losing streak against Guardiola’s men. Gabriel Martinelli scored the only goal in the 86th minute to condemn City to back to back losses for the first time since December 2018. The result sees Arsenal jump to 2nd place in the table, still unbeaten after eight matches. City drop to third on 18 points.

    In other Sunday matches, which all ended in draws, Salah scored twice for Liverpool in a 2-2 draw with Brighton. It took him to 13th place in the all time highest goal scorers’ list with 144 goals, level with Man U legend Robin Van Persie. At the London Stadium, West Ham also played out a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United. Alexander Isak scored twice for Newcastle but it was not enough to secure the three points. Pau Torres goal for Aston Villa helped his side snatch a point in an entertaining 1-all draw with Wolves. The home team had taken the lead through Hwang Hee Chan only for Villa to equalize two minutes later.

    On Saturday, super-sub Scott Mctominay spared the blushes for Manchester United by scoring twice in added time to help the Red Devils beat Brentford 2-1. United had fallen behind in the first half through Mathias Jensen’s goal and looked set for a fifth loss of the season. But Mctominay came off the bench to score two goals in two minutes to seal all three points. In other results, Crystal Palace played out a barren draw with Nottingham Forest. Spurs beat Luton 1-0 to end the weekend top of the table with 20 points to remain the only unbeaten team, together with Arsenal.

    Raheem Sterling starred for Chelsea as they thumped Burnley 4-1, while Everton also enjoyed a convincing 3-0 success at home to Bournemouth. Cole Palmer scored a penalty for his first goal for Chelsea. Nicolas Jackson also got his name on the scoresheet after coming back from suspension. Fulham beat Sheffield United 2-1 ,leaving them bottom of the table and still without a win this season.

Siku ya Jumanne mchezaji wa Arsenal Bukayo Saka alipata jeraha huku timu yake ikipigwa mabao mawili kwa moja na Lens.

    Signed from Borussis Dortmund for an all- time record fee for a British player and the second-most expensive transfer in Real Madrid history, many wondered how Bellingham would fit into the Spanish giants. 5 matches into the season however, he has proved everyone wrong. The youngster has scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist for Madrid this season, taking them to the top of the table, unbeaten with 15 points.

    So good have been his performances that he became the first English player in Laliga to ever win the Player of the Month award. His 5 goals and 1 assists won him the La Liga Santander August Player of the Month award. He showcased it before the Madrid fans before their match againt Real Sociedad yesterday, where they emerged 2-1 winners. Ahead of their Champions League opener against Union Berlin later in the week, all eyes continue to be on Jude and his exciting performances are sure to leave many optimistic and hopeful of what the future holds for him.

    With Karim Benzema’s departure to Saudi Arabia, many wondered who would replace the Frenchman’s position as their main goal scoring threat. After Kylian Mbappe extended his contract with PSG, potentially ending a possible move to Madrid, Real had to settle for former Real Sociedad striker Joselu. Despite losing Benzema, Madrid have somehow managed to find their rhythm, with their attacking players Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Joselu playing as the front three. Bellingham has formed a good partnership with other midfielders like Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Federico Valverde. It may be too early to say, but with this continued dynamism in the team, Bellingham and his teammates could win all the gold this season.

     

  • Tasty Champions League Encounters to Look out for

    The Champions League will commence with the first round of the group stages to be played on Tuesday 19, September.

    The footballing world is set to be treated to a number of tasty encounters especially in group F. Dubbed as the group of death, the group consists of German side Borrussia Dortmund, French giants PSG, Premier League side Newcastle and seven times winners AC Milan.

    AC Milan will take on Newcastle in an early kick off as the premier league side hopes to brush off their start of the season blemishes. The toons have endured a horrid start to the new season compared to their trajectory at the back end of last season. With just two wins in five, the toons will hope their form is not long lasting.

    Milan on the other hand have won three of their four league games and will be looking to bounce back after a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of fierce rivals, Intermilan. The Rossoneri will hope the result of that derby was a one-off occurrence as they take on the Toons.

    In another promising encounter,German side Borrusia Dortmund will take on French champions, PSG. The Bundesliga outfit are yet to taste defeat in their opening four league games, winning two and drawing two.

    The French champions have been back and forth in their last five games with two wins, two draws and a loss. After succumbing 2-3 to Nice on home turf, PSG will hope to bounce back as they take on Borussia Dortmund. The French will look to Kylian Mbappe and hope that he will be up and firing.

    Group F has been dubbed the group of death because of the possibility of either combination of teams progressing. As the first round of the group stages kick-off, all four teams will hope to secure their first wins to help their chances of proceeding to the knockout stages.

    On wednesday it will be a clash of giants as Manchester United take on German champions Bayern Munich. Manchester United going through a rough patch might be poised to be on the losing end but the red devils are not to be written off when the lights of the champions league are the brightest.

    Bayern Munich are yet to taste defeat in the Bundesliga and will be hoping to keep it that way in the champions league as they take on the red devils. The Bavarians are on a good run of games despite being held to a draw by joint top league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

  • Premier league round-up: Manchester United & Chelsea Woes Continue

    Arsenal stormed to fourth after a hard fought 1-0 victory against Everton.

    The gunners had a goal disallowed as Eddie Nketiah was offside for Martineli’s goal. The Brazilian was taken off with a knock as his subsitute, Leandro Trossard scored the match’s solitary goal.

    In another sunday kick off Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw at the vitality stadium by Bournemouth.

    The blues enjoyed dominance in possesion but could not capitalize on that dominance. Colwill’s goal should have given the london side the lead but was disallowed for being offside.

    Early on in the weekend Manchester City maintained their top spot as they brushed West Ham United aside with goals from Jeremy Doku, Bernardo silva and Erling Haaland.

    Their Manchester counterparts, the red devils fell to abrighton thumping on home turf. Danny Welbeck, Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro put the seagulls three goals ahead as Hannibal scored United’s consolation goal.

    Tottenham left it late as they came back from a goal down against Sheffield United to win the game in stopppage time with two goals in quick succesion from Richarlison and Kulusevski.

    Liverpool brushed of a wolves threat as they fought from a goal down to win 3-1.

    Goals from Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson saw the res through.

    Later in the evening Nottingham Forest will take on Burnley in the last encounter of Match week 5.

  • Uncertainty Over the Future of Manchester United Star

    Antony’s future at Manchester United has taken a sudden turn as the club has announced a “period of absence” for him, and his return to the field is now uncertain.

    This decision comes in the midst of disturbing allegations made by his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavalin, which have led to investigations by police in both Sao Paulo and Manchester. These allegations include claims of physical and mental abuse.

    As a result, Antony will not be participating in the training sessions at Carrington, reserved for players not on international duty. Although he denies any wrongdoing, he has agreed with the club to postpone his return to training until further notice to address the allegations properly.

    Manchester United has acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and is taking the matter seriously. Players who have not been involved in international matches are expected to return to training, but Antony’s situation remains uncertain as the investigations continue.

  • Harry Kane Shines on Home Debut as Bayern Munich Defeats Augsburg 3-1

    Harry Kane made a dazzling home debut for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, guiding his team to a resounding 3-1 victory against Augsburg. This defeat marked Augsburg’s 15th consecutive winless away game, underscoring Bayern’s dominance.

    Bavarian giants Bayern, who had previously scored four against Werder Bremen, exploited Augsburg’s defensive vulnerabilities. Despite Augsburg showing promise on the counter, their chances were marred by Ermedin Demirović’s missed opportunity.

    Bayern’s breakthrough came through fortunate circumstances, as a rebound off Felix Uduokhai followed Leroy Sané’s shot, putting them ahead. Minutes later, a handball in the box led to a penalty, confidently converted by Kane for his debut goal at Allianz Arena.

    Kane, eager to add to his tally, narrowly missed from an angle. Augsburg struggled to contain Bayern’s pace, with Dahmen’s reflex save and Rexhbecaj’s block preventing further goals. An unlucky strike from Sané hit the post.

    Kane completed his brace with a well-placed poke over Dahmen, courtesy of Alphonso Davies’ precise setup. Augsburg managed a late consolation goal through Demirović to finish 3-1.

    Bayern’s victory solidifies their Bundesliga standing, with Kane’s performance hinting at a promising season ahead.
