The best of the best in the world are about to collide and when the dust settles, there will be those who progress and those who are sent home.<\/p>\n<p>In the European Championships, we have 2 heavy clashes with <strong>Spain<\/strong> taking on <strong>Germany<\/strong> while <strong>Portugal<\/strong> meets <strong>France<\/strong>. There are going to be many intriguing on-field battles, for instance <strong>Jamal Musiala <\/strong>vs <strong>Dani Carvajal<\/strong>, <strong>Nico Williams <\/strong>vs <strong>Joshua Kimmich<\/strong>, <strong>Cristiano Ronaldo <\/strong>vs <strong>Kylian Mbappe<\/strong>, <strong>Joao Palhinha <\/strong>vs <strong>N&#8217;golo Kante.<\/strong> And of course, the winners of either tie are going to end up facing each other in the semi-final. So, in actuality, out of these 4 mammoth teams, only one is going to make it out unscathed.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side of the draw, lackluster <strong>England<\/strong> come up against an inspired <strong>Switzerland<\/strong> side. The likes of <strong>Declan Rice<\/strong> in midfield will have to be on the top of their game in midfield to keep in form Swiss captain, <strong>Granit Xhaka<\/strong> quiet on the day. <strong>Netherlands<\/strong>, who had the worst run in the group stage out of the 8 teams, will probably feel like they got the &#8220;<em>best<\/em>&#8221; draw coming up against <strong>Turkey<\/strong>. Although, with captain <strong>Hakan \u00c7alhano\u011flu<\/strong> back from suspension and young talent <strong>Arda G\u00fcler<\/strong> in hot form, <strong>Virgil van Dijk<\/strong> and co. will have to be at the top of their game to put them to bed. They will, no doubt, be relying on <strong>Cody Gakpo<\/strong> to keep his goal scoring form and stay in the hunt for the top scorer award.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, the Copa America is also keen to serve up some key clashes in the quarter finals, with <strong>Argentina<\/strong> taking on a rampant <strong>Ecuador<\/strong>, <strong>Colombia<\/strong> taking on <strong>Panama<\/strong>, <strong>Venezuela<\/strong> taking on <strong>Canada<\/strong> and perhaps most notably <strong>Brazil<\/strong> taking on <strong>Uruguay<\/strong>. Seeing stars like <strong>Vinicius Junior<\/strong>, <strong>Lucas Paqueta<\/strong>, <strong>Federico Valverde<\/strong>, <strong>Darwin N\u00fa\u00f1ez<\/strong>, <strong>Alexis MacAllister<\/strong>, <strong>Luis Diaz<\/strong>, <strong>James Rodriguez<\/strong>, <strong>Alphonso Davies<\/strong>, <strong>Lionel Messi<\/strong>, etc. all come up against each is a very delectable prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Also worth noting that this may be the last time we see <strong>Ronaldo<\/strong> and <strong>Messi<\/strong> play on the same weekend.<\/p>\n<p>What a weekend it&#8217;s going to be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Ben Ayuko {contact info: gnrlspecific@gmail.com} {image by Getty Images} &nbsp; The Footballing World is about to be treated to some of the best clashes we have seen in recent years.
