{"id":366,"date":"2019-10-07T21:34:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-07T18:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theinvolvement.wordpress.com\/?p=366"},"modified":"2019-10-07T21:34:17","modified_gmt":"2019-10-07T18:34:17","slug":"kenyatta-university-students-unrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/invo.nyarango.me\/index.php\/2019\/10\/07\/kenyatta-university-students-unrest\/","title":{"rendered":"KENYATTA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS UNREST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Debbie Gitau<\/p>\n<p>debbiemumbi@gmail.com<\/p>\n<p>Images sourced from Twitter<\/p>\n<p>Kenyatta University-Main Campus students hold protests today over welfare issues and seek the removal of their Vice Chancellor Paul Wainaina.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Kenyatta University Students Association issued a memo and stated some of their grievances to be:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The extension of the deadline of the fee payment is minimal.<\/li>\n<li>The administration forcefully directing students in Nyayo to use the flyover.<\/li>\n<li>The suspension of the both students and student leaders on petty basis.<\/li>\n<li>Supplementary fee which is free in other universities, K.U charges 2,500 shillings that applies to Nursing, Law, Medicine and Pharmacy students.<\/li>\n<li>Hiking of graduation fee from 3,500 to 6,000 without KUSA being informed.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of student I.D cards despite payments being done.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The students closed the Thika road super highway in protest.
