{"id":2695,"date":"2021-03-27T12:11:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T09:11:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theinvolvement.wordpress.com\/?p=2695"},"modified":"2021-03-27T12:11:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-27T09:11:22","slug":"daystar-campuses-shut-down-online-learning-to-resume","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/invo.nyarango.me\/index.php\/2021\/03\/27\/daystar-campuses-shut-down-online-learning-to-resume\/","title":{"rendered":"Daystar Campuses Shut Down, Online Learning to Resume"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By: Sumaya Hussein<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:husseinsumaya1@gmail.com\">husseinsumaya1@gmail.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theinvolvement.files.wordpress.com\/2021\/03\/img-20200917-wa0017.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2698\" \/><figcaption>Daystar University Athi River main gate &#8211; Emmanuel Laguma<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daystar University campuses have been closed and students urged to go home following the recent suspension of physical learning in universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe urge all students to make immediate arrangement to vacate the campuses, as we will be implementing strict restrictions for movement on and off campus to avoid escalated infection,\u201d said the VC Prof Laban Ayiro, in a memo to the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The school is to resume online learning from Monday, for the remaining two weeks of the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exams will also be administered online within the period stipulated in the timetable, and the DVC Academic Affairs and University Registrar are yet to give further guidance on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The libraries have also been closed but will continue to offer remote access to e-resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students still at the main campus have been advised to register with the Dean of Students and University Services Department for \u201cfurther guidance and advice\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DUSA elections set for this semester will continue as planned and voting will be done online on April 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The May semester is set to be conducted online as well with orientation of new students to begin on May 3, while ongoing students will resume on May 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The university was previously offering blended learning where both online and physical classes were ongoing.
